Insignia’s FlexRide makes driving safer and much more fun. It reacts instantly to changing conditions and adapts to your driving style in real time. This class-leading electronic chassis control system lets you pick the driving dynamics that suit your mood. “Sport” for a more responsive drive, e.g.: stiffer damping, tighter speed-sensitive steering and sportier shifting (with the automatic transmission). “Tour” for relaxed cruising: the dampers react more softly for a smoother ride. “Standard” is the default mode and focuses on fuel economy and refined driving. FlexRide also alters the characteristics of the gas pedal, ESP and steering, and, if applicable, also changes the all-wheel drive set up and automatic transmission, adding emotion to the driving experience. The core components of FlexRide are Continuous Damping Control, 4-channel ABS with electronic brake force distribution, traction control, and ESP.

The INSIGNIA ADAPTIVE 4X4 ALL WHEEL DRIVE.

Insignia’s Adaptive 4x4 system improves handling and stability in all driving conditions. As a segment first, the new FlexRide chassis control system also fully integrates the electronically controlled all-wheel drive. It ensures that engine torque is not only automatically distributed between front and rear axles, but also between left and right rear wheels. This distribution provides maximum traction, stability and outstanding driving dynamics. The result: increased safety and driving satisfaction.

The INSIGNIA FUEL ECONOMY AND LOW EMISSIONS ECOFLEX.

The Insignia Ecoflex is one of the most aerodynamically efficient sedans in the world. When fuel economy and low emissions are a top priority, the Insignia ecoFLEX models are the perfect choice. The highly efficient ecoFLEX models are equipped with some of the most innovative and cutting edge emission lowering technology available – including a fuel-saving Start/Stop function.
This year, the ecoFLEX Insignia models have undergone a series of technical improvements that result in a five percent reduction in combined cycle fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. With a 2.0 CDTI engine developing 118 kW/160 hp, the latest Insignia ecoFLEX sedan variant now sip just 4.4 l/100 km of fuel, while emitting 115 g/km CO2. By optimizing engine calibration, adapting the drive ratio, refining aerodynamics, fitting special tires and shift indication, the Insignia ecoFLEX protects the environment without compromising driving performance.

The INSIGNIA FLEXFUEL ENGINE.

The 2.0 Turbo (162 kW/220 hp) is equipped with high-tech features such as gasoline direct injection, twin-scroll turbocharger with intercooler, twin camshaft with variable valve timing and two balance shafts. It also offers optional FlexFuel capability that allows the Insignia to operate on gasoline, E85 bioethanol or a combination of both. E85 is 85 percent bioethanol, a domestically produced, renewable fuel that produces fewer greenhouse gases in the combustion process, and 15 percent gasoline.

The INSIGNIA FUEL EFFICIENT DIESEL.

Five common rail 2.0 liter diesel options are available in the Insignia. The 160 hp variants are available as ecoFLEX versions with the Opel CleanTech system. It features pressure sensors within the cylinders that measure the optimum combustion conditions in real time, allowing the engine control unit (ECU) to instantly fine-tune the fuel delivery. This creates a closed-loop system that reduces emissions and noise to the very minimum, while maximizing efficiency for the whole life of the engine.
